About Me

My Work

I work as a TV news producer for WJBK, Fox 2 Detroit. I started there in 2004. Among my favorite projects over the years, I produced a half-hour special on the 50th anniversary of the 1968 Tigers championship. I also have worked as a freelance writer for mlb.com.

My Community

I live in Fraser, MI, but am originally from Clare, MI. Growing up, living a lengthy drive from Detroit, my family would go to one Tiger game per year.

I went to my first Tiger game in 1985, when I was six. I got Chet Lemon and Larry Herndon's autograph. My brother got Alan Trammell's. In the game, Herndon, Trammell, and Darrell Evans each hit home runs. Walt Terrell and Willie Hernandez combined for a one-hitter as the Tigers beat the Twins, 8-0. From there, my family and I went on a vacation to Cooperstown, New York to see the National Baseball Hall of Fame. I've been a huge fan, ever since.

I won my first Tigers trivia contest when I was nine. Seriously! I called in to a radio station and won four free tickets to see them play the Twins (a loss). I kept winning the contest so often that my dad made me stop, because we couldn't afford to drive to Detroit for game after game.

Since that first game in 1985, I've been to at least one Tiger game every year since. I'm now passing that love on to my kids.

This love of the Tigers and baseball in general inspired me to write this book. I love writing, history, and the Detroit Tigers. I hope this shows to anyone who reads The Perfect Season.
